Decleor has been our exclusive skincare brand for nearly 13 years and we whole heartily support that they are all about the environment. Follow these top tips for eco-friendly beauty…
1. Embrace the natural
As a leading Essential Oils brand, we are incredibly proud of the natural ingredients contained in all our products. Essential Oils are the plants’ natural remedy that ensures their protective, reproductive and regenerative properties. Each drop of Essential Oil contains on average 150 active molecules. We are committed to promoting a sustainable and renewable sourcing of plants around the world, and to select the finest Essential Oils. At Decléor, we use as many natural ingredients as possible in all our formulas, aiming at 95% natural origin. Our Aromessence Oil Serums are up to 100% natural origin.
For a product that everyone can enjoy, try our new Essential Oils Bath & Shower Gels range. With a base of Aloe Vera, these gentle products are 98% natural origin and harness natural ingredients such as Lavender, Neroli & Rose Essential Oils to tonify, hydrate and sooth your skin, naturally.
2. Less is More
More often than not, beauty products contain a long list of ingredients that are difficult to pronounce, let alone comprehend. With the rise of the a more minimalist way of living, more and more consumers are seeking to strip their beauty routine with less ingredients & waste, but still sparking plenty of ‘joy’. But where do you start? Read on below on how we up our skincare game while cutting back on waste.
Cleansing: When it comes to cleansing your skin from impurities, why not ditch the makeup wipes and cotton pads and cut back on waste with our trusty Aroma Cleanse Micellar Oil, to deep cleanse your skin? Harnessing micellar technology, this cleanser uses the powerful combination of oil and water to work deep into the pores, dissolving and dispersing dirt and impurities and removing all make-up, including waterproof and long-lasting formulations. Simply dispense 1-2 pumps of Micellar Oil on dry hands and spread gently and thoroughly over a dry face. Then, add a few drops of water to face to emulsify and you’ll see the oil turn milky white. When rinsed off, skin feels fresh, nourished and revitalised, perfectly prepped for the next step in your skincare routine. Make sure to switch off the tap in between rinses to save water.
“Exfoliating: We know that exfoliation is the secret to smooth and radiant skin. Because of their damaging effects to the environment, last year, the government successfully put into place a ban on microbeads. At Decléor we have always preferred to instead take a natural approach to exfoliating. Our 1000 Grain Body Exfoliator is here to spark joy with plenty of fruit seeds. Enriched with Grapefruit Essential Oil, this indulgent scrub combines Pearl Sugar, Argan Shell and Orange Peel with Fruit Acids, that transform your skin into a velvety-smooth finish. Skin is left feeling softer, smoother and refined…all with less waste and damage to our planet.
Masking: Putting on a face mask is everyone’s ideal Sunday activity. Why not swap single-use sheet masks for our Prolagene Lift Contouring Lift Firm Mask, an anti-ageing 1-minute flash mask for firmer, more radiant skin? With Iris Essential Oil, Iris Pallida, this natural origin mask combats the effects of time while preserving skin’s integrity. The skin reconnects with its firmness and elasticity, face contours are like lifted, and wrinkles are smoothed. The skin radiates an intense glow. Its 100% natural origin fragrance formulated with Real Lavender Essential Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia, restores serenity in both the mind, and the Earth.
3. Reduced plastic packaging
Plastic is a leading cause of environmental pollution. As of 2018, our cleansers are now packed in lighter material, resulting in a 5-tonne reduction in our annual plastic usage. The very fact that our bottles are lighter also means that less fuel is being to transport from us to you.
For most of us, recycling our waste already forms a normal part of our daily lives. But we often forget about it when it comes to our beauty routine. Here are some quick swaps you can do to up-cycle your old empty products instead of sending them to the landfill.
Instead of throwing away your empty jar of moisturiser, why not reuse it as a secure storage container for small items like paper clips, safety pins, buttons and hair ties? Recently, we’ve been inspired by Kiehl’s upcycling campaign where they turned empty packaging into small plant pots for cacti. How adorable, yet so effective!
If face wipes are still your trusty way of removing makeup, why not reduce the amount you’re using by hand washing them and re-using them? Reusable cotton cleansing pads are becoming more and more easily available. This way, you can still resume your normal routine while cutting back on waste, one wipe at a time.
We really hope that this article has inspired you to make quick lifestyle swaps to help the environment. It’s possible to maximise your beauty routine while minimising its impact on the planet so let’s combine our efforts to celebrate Mother Earth . After all, we only have one Earth. 🌏
See you soon,
